CANARY OF HOPE

CANARY OF HOPE
The canary is a symbol of joy and freedom. But it can also serve as a warning of danger and sensitivity to chemicals. Canaries were once used in mines to detect toxic gases. If they stopped singing or showed signs of poisoning, it was a signal to leave immediately. This is where the metaphor ‘canary in the coal mine’ comes from.
Canary of Hope is its story reimagined: It managed to escape the toxic environment and be free. Dedicated to everyone living with sensitivity to everyday chemicals, especially my sister Alison. I love you.
Backing card artwork by: @alistephaart. Each pin includes two rubber clutches. Size: 1.25 inches.
