This mural is a tribute to Castor Ayala who was the first Puerto Rican to be designated "Master Craftsman" and is the father of the Ayala brothers. Founder of the Folkloric Ballet Brothers Ayala, he helped to bring the Bomba music and dance to television. With his craft dedication, Castor Ayala immortalized Puerto Rican culture through his Vejigante masks carved in coconut.

“Detrás del Vejigante” (Behind the Vejigante) is a metaphor about Castor’s Ayala life and cultural legacy.
